Christian Lett is a BAFTA Award winning, self-taught visual effects and motion graphics artist. Currently based in Cardiff, South Wales, Christian has recently changed jobs and now works for Bait Studio, part of Gorilla as a Visual Effects Supervisor.
Primarily a compositor, using Adobe After Effects (and now The Foundry’s Nuke), he is also a Maya 3D generalist. Christian is also quite handy with Photoshop (see picture), and makes good use of his computer programming background writing cool After Effects scripts and expressions. Recently he delved into the world of writing After Effects plugins, and has finally developed something useful.
Christian’s first visual effects job was supervising a bluescreen shoot on Mat Dolphin’s comedy The Solihull Job. This paved the way for Mat’s follow-up blockbuster Impact Day, but the work was rather more involved; with two heavy visual effects applications and about two hundred new techniques to learn, it’s fair to say Christian cut his VFX teeth on Impact Day.
Since going professional and moving to Wales (the two aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive!), his work has been broadcast on actual television, and has won him a Welsh BAFTA (I may have mentioned that already).
In his spare time, Christian enjoys cooking, gardening (although currently not having a garden is proving to be a handicap), reading, good TV, and talking about himself in the third person.
